Employee status

General concept : Employee

In Cactusoft Construction, the status of an employee helps manage useful information when planning and distributing worksites and managing payroll.

List of statuses

The list of statuses can be found in the employee file. This concept is important since we ensure that the planning and distribution of sites takes into account the right number of workers available; manages and monitors extended leaves, vacations and temporary layoffs and monitors special statuses, such as injuries, temporary assignment or light work. Here is the list of statuses with their meaning:

Active

The employee is available for scheduling and for the pay period. Upon creation, the employee is automatically marked as Active from the date of hire. By staying active:

  • The worker is counted in the available resources during planning and can be assigned in the worker assignment

  • He is eligible to be selected and paid in payroll preparation

Inactive

The employee is temporarily unavailable, such as a temporary layoff. When an employee is inactive:

  • The worker is not available when scheduling and assigning workers

  • It is impossible to add him to a pay period while he is inactive

Work accident

The status is declared when the employee has a work accident. Here's when an employee has status Work accident :

  • It is not available when scheduling and assigning workers

  • It can be selected and paid for 14 days after the status change. This behavior complies with CNESST standards regarding work accidents.

  • After 14 days, the employee is no longer available for payroll and should be compensated directly by the CNESST

Light work

The employee is available, but to carry out light work only. When an employee is in light work status:

  • The worker is not available when scheduling and assigning workers

  • It can be selected and paid in payroll

Temporary assignment

The employee is available, but temporarily assigned to other tasks. When an employee is in temporary assignment status:

  • The worker is not available when scheduling and assigning workers

  • It can be selected and paid in payroll

Inactive (permanent)

The employee is unavailable without a planned rehire. When an employee is inactive (permanent):

  • The worker is not available when scheduling and assigning workers

  • It is impossible to add him to a pay period while he is inactive

  • He no longer appears in the employee list. It only appears in the list Laid-off employees

Absences

In Cactusoft Construction, it is possible to mark a worker as absent from the site. Even if the employee is not compensated in the payroll, this information can be useful for generating absence and lateness reports.
